What is a custom splint?
Just like a custom item of clothing, a custom splint is one that is made just for you - it will only fit you and it can accommodate for all the unique bumps and hollows each individual has on their hand and arm.
How is a custom splint made?
Your Occupational Therapist will make a pattern from your hand and/or wrist and use it to create a custom splint with low temperature thermoplastic materials. These materials can be heated in warm water and formed directly to your hand for a personalized fit.
Why a custom splint?
Our thermoplastic splints are custom made for each client and are fully adjustable to ensure long term comfort and wearability. This approach to splinting helps ensure there is no skin irritation when a splint is worn for long periods of time.
